We created this account because of this restaurant. We loved our experience at Basilic!!!! From the very first taste of our amuse-bouche to our last bite of creme-brule we were blown away by the quality of the experience. The service was great but not pretentious. Our server attended to all of our needs without feeling overbearing. The atmosphere was romantic and very intimate. It felt as though we had fallen into some cute little bistro in france. Now for the food!!!!!!! Everything was so delightful and elegant. The duck was the best I have ever had. With a menu like this you cant go wrong. And after relishing every bite a perfect end to the evening came when the owner/chef came out to greet all of the guests. Top to bottom this was a first rate experience.

Formaly known as the Back Bay Cafe, this restaurant has been completely renovated and renamed “Back Bay Bistro”Patio dining with retractable roof overlooking stunning views of the Bay. Upscale but casual. They have done an incredible job, from the decor, the new menus and extensive new wine list. This will know doubt be a “must go” for a great dining experience in Newport Beach. From their great appetizers to Seafood to Steaks everything was great. Fantastic Bar with more great views. Also their popular brunch is still a favorite. Suggest reservations as the luncheon we attended was packed.Pros + ambiance, waterfront views, reasonably priced, new menus Cons – none.

Went to Tantalum on a Friday night for a dinner-date a@ 9:30pm. We had no problem getting a table right away which directly overlooked the water. We sat close to the bar, but far enough away to have personal conversation although it was hard to talk over the loud music. My salmon dish was very good, the chicken dish was ok. We spent $65 on dinner (2 entrees, 1 drink from bar, 1 juice). Waiter was friendly and prompt. From the website, I thought it would be more of a “dressy” place, but its more of a CASUAL dining/hang-out place. Overall, I would come back to hang with friends or stop-in while shopping, but wouldn’t recommend it for a DATE.

The service can be a bit slow, but the food is good and reasonably priced. Portions are fairly large. Make sure to get a window booth for …
