Where is the gobi desert located?
The Gobi desert stretches 500,000 square miles (1,295,000 kilometers) through China and much of the southern part of Mongolia, which makes it one of the largest desert regions in the world. The Gobi desert is composed of gravel plains and rocky outcrops, and the climate there can be extreme, reaching +40° C. in summer, and -40 in winter. Some areas only receive rain once every two to three years.
