Saratoga is known today as Saratoga Springs, a city north of Albany, NY. There is a famous race track and a performing arts center. The british army was coming south from Montreal and the American army advanced north to meet them. By winning the battle the Americans prevented the British from splitting apart the two most influential colonies, Massachusetts and Virginia. It happened in 1777.
