Where to apply nappy / diaper rash creams?

I don’t apply it after every change. If you change your child enough during the day (and I am assuming you do), they shouldn’t need it after every change. I do use it preventatively at nighttime, since I don’t change him at night (he sleeps through). I put it all over the bum and base of the penis. Also up the creases along the sides of the penis. That protects all of the prone areas. I also use it if he is on antibiotics, because those create rashes all on their own and I like to keep them as minimal as possible. He has never gotten a really bad rash.

No i don’t apply cream unless he has a rash developing. Just a tip when it comes to nappy rash cream: it works as a barrier. It provides a barrier over the skin that stops pee or poop touching the rash/skin (and therefore stops irritation and allows the rash to heal). if you apply cream to damp skin, it will trap the moisture and CREATE nappy rash prone skin. The best way to avoid nappy rash is to keep their skin as dry as possible. If you choose to apply cream at every diaper change, be sure to dry baby’s skin thoroughly before application of the cream.
