Where to watch Leonids Meteor Shower this Nov?
We may have one of the best meteor showers in quite some time here… The peak (as stated by the first answerer) occurrs on a night almost synchronous with a new moon. On top of that, the portion of the “stream” we will be moving into is expected to be “stronger than usual” (the Leonids are famous for producing very high peaks at 33 year intervals, but the last of these was less than a decade ago)… http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2008/… … a suspected “peak outburst” is expected to occur at about 21:43 UT on November 17, (you’ll have to convert this to your local time (and day) to know if this will be when the radiant is overhead, or if it is even nighttime)… I think you are roughly 10 hours “ahead” of Grenwhich Mean Time, which would make this particular outburst invisible (below the horizon and during daylight hours).
