Where was the Battle of Antietam?
The battle of Antietam was the single bloodiest day in American history with 23,000 casualties. It was fought near Antietam creek and Sharpsburg, Maryland (in fact the conflict is known as the Battle of Sharpsburg in the south) at 39.4732°N 77.7447°W. The battle was the culmination of General Lee’s first invasion of the north.
