Hi, The host city of the 2016 Summer Olympics will be decided by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in Copenhagen, Denmark on October 2, 2009. According to the IOC, the seven cities that are candidates (the deadline for applications have passed, so there will be no new ones) are: Baku (Azerbaijan), Chicago (USA), Doha (Qatar), Madrid (Spain), Prague (Czech Republic), Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Tokyo (Japan). http://www.olympic.org/uk/news/media_centre/press_release_uk.asp?id=2317 Chicago, Tokyo and Madrid seem likely front runners, although Rio de Janeiro is in South America and the IOC has said it would like to see the Olympics happen in South America or Africa, neither of which have hosted the games. Hope this helps, Mark Sources: http://en.wikipedia.
