It would be necessary to construct up to 5 kms of gas pipeline to connect a new power station to the National Transmission System which transmits gas around the country. The route for this pipeline would have to be investigated and would be agreed in consultation with Thurrock Council and Thurrock Thames Gateway Development Corporation and through a comprehensive community consultation programme, with the local community and landowners as well as other statutory and non-statutory consultees. The gas pipeline would be laid underground and so would not be visible above ground.
