So the horse-racing season has begun at Del Mar. It is ideal for a person who does not mind a mental escape, a few beers, and having a good time with a few mates. But I live in Poway. Where is the public transportation to Del Mar? It does not exist. Not only for the races but in general there is no public service. There is really only one mode of public transportation into Del Mar, a one-track train line that transports people north and south of the fairgrounds. It is miserable for the size of event and people who attend. When there is an event at the grounds the highways are ridiculously jammed. So, we have a race track, football stadium or whatever and a train system that does not serve a major portion of the county. How brainless is this? You would never see this around other major venues around the world.
