Which acid in the human body causes muscle cramps?

I’m 99.9% sure it’s lactic acid. When you’ve done a lot of strenous activity your cells start to use anaerobic respiration (as opposed to aerobic), one byproduct of which is lactic acid. This build up cause muscle cramps.
