Which American city has the lushest, most dense-looking “Urban Forest”?

If you haven’t been to Atlanta, you really don’t understand the magnitude of the canopy there. I used to live there until five years ago, now live in Minneapolis, and have been to just about every major city in the USA and I can say with certainty that the ATL takes the prize here. Not only is there a dense canopy, but the trees in this part of the south grow taller than just about anywhere in the USA, save the redwood forests of the Northwest. Just look to Atlanta’s city street layout. It is full of organic arterials, street layouts that ‘evolved’ from their origins, many of which were horse trails carved out of the forests. Peachtree St. is an example. Conversely, Atlanta has a very small street grid for a city its size. A gridded street system is planned and built despite the trees and other natural barriers. Atlanta grew up around its trees and very few, if any, other major American cities can say this.
