Which Aphrodisiac Foods, Aromas and Libations are the Hottest for 21st Century Sensibilities?
De Villers, Linda*,1, 2, 1 Aphrodite Media, Marina del Rey, CA, USA2 Pepperdine University, Los Angeles, CA, USA ABSTRACT- This paper takes a contemporary look at the erotic power of aphrodisiac foods, aromas, and beverages (alcoholic and non-alcoholic). It highlights both their actual biochemical properties, their visual properties and the importance of taking advantage of the power of perception and experience to boost their aphrodisiac potential. In addition to the traditional favorites such as oysters, chocolate, chiles and champagne, this paper also includes the results of an internet-based, international survey of favorite aphrodisiac foods, beverages and recipes. Preliminary analyses of the data show that gender, age, country-of-origin and ethnicity all influence which foods, beverages and aromas hold the greatest aphrodisiac appeal. The results also reveal that those who have adventurous palettes find exotic foods are perceived as aphrodisiac, while those who have conservative
