I would tend to agree that material sciences had to most influence in the EARLY development of skyscrapers. Today’s innovations are due to the ever increasing power and capability of the computers used in design and analysis. Designs can be vertually built and tested in ways that were only dreams 10 years ago, possible but still too expensive for a lot of companies 5 years ago.
