Which black female athlete has the most Olympic track and field gold medals to date?
Jackie Joyner-Kersee. During a career that saw her compete in four consecutive Summer Olympiads (1984-96), Jackie Joyner-Kersee won six medals – three of which were Gold. The length and success of her career, combined with the fact that three of her Olympic medals came in the heptathlon – which consists of seven different events – left Joyner-Kersee first in line as the Best Female Track and Field Athlete. Her Olympic career peaked at the 1988 Summer Games in South Korea when she won Gold medals in the heptathlon and the long jump. Joyner-Kersee followed that in ’92 with another heptathlon Gold and a Bronze medal in the long jump. She nearly won Gold in the heptathlon in her first Olympiad in 1984, but she fell a few points short and claimed the only Silver medal of her Olympic career!!
