Using the Commonwealth War Grave website, I found John Cambell, Gunner 134414, Royal Field Artillery, ‘D’ Battery, 58th Brigade – died 16th February 1918. Buried at Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe (between Bethune & Lens, France) grave lll.B.27. Home address is given as 12 Hawthorn Road, Ashington, Northumberland – wife, Mary Ellen Campbell. However, his age is given as 27 not 47 as would be the case if he was born in 1871, so this death cannot be that of the John Campbell you were looking for. Additional;- On 1861 census, I have found a James Campbell – age 19 – iron shipwright – born in Scotland – living with his family at Ormonde Street, Hedworth, Monkton & Jarrow, South Shields Co. Durham. Family are – Kennedy Campbell – age 51 – iron shipwright – born in Scotland; Hugh Campbell – age 29 – iron shipwright – born in Scotland; Elizabeth Cambell – age 22 – dressmaker – born in Scotland; Agnes Campbell – age 14 – born in Scotla
