Which continent is the Middle East on?
The Middle East has long been associated with Asia from a western perspective. The founding civilisation of Europe, the Greek city states, really didn’t consider themselves unified until they were forced by the Persian invasion to defend their soveriegnty. At the time, the Persians ruled Asia Minor which included what is now Turkey. For this reason, everything east and south of Turkey has long been considered Asia. The delineation served as a means of rallying various European city states and kingdoms against invading Persians, Huns, Saracens or any other foreign armies that could be labelled barbarian as a tool to rally a defense over the centuries.
