Broadly speaking, rhinoplasty techniques fall into two main categories: closed rhinoplasty and open rhinoplasty. The closed approaches are the original classic techniques for rhinoplasty, while the open approaches are more modern techniques (approximately 30 years old, but popularized and refined in the mid-1980s).
