Which drug is stronger out of codeine and dihydrocodeine?
In general, Dihydrocodeine is 1.5 to 2 times more potent that Codeine. Also, Dihydrocodeine does not have a ceiling effect unlike codeine (which caps at around 350-450mg per dose). The effects of Dihydrocodeine usually cap at 1200mg. If you are in need of strong pain relief though, speak to your doctor and see if you can find an alternative. Dihydrocodeine is severely constipating (almost as bad as Morphine) and causes great deal of histamine release. These effects can be quite bad at higher doses. Hope this helps.
