Which Group of people do you think has the worst manners these days, young people or old people?
There are subsets of both that seem to have appalling manners. There’s always been a large group of older people that seem to think themselves entitled to preferential treatment just by virtue of the fact they have been alive a long time. One thing that sticks in my mind is being a slightly gothy fourteen year old, and a friend and I deciding it would be nice for us to stand up on a crowded bus and offer two old ladies our seats. The ladies in question just looked at us with complete contempt as if to say “What took you so long? And what on EARTH do you think you’re wearing?” and sat down without so much as a thankyou. I also found when I worked in a posh hotel as a receptionist- that the majority of people who treated me lik s**t and never said please or thank you, were the over 60’s. A particular group of over 60’s: usually with upper class accents and a male partner with a militiary title.
