Which is better north face backpacks or mountain hardware backpacks?
Let me second Garet and Cody’s answers: Mountain Hard Wear products are currently much better designed and built than North Face products for the most part. Ten years ago I would have said they were equal but, as others have said, NF has gone the route of mass marketing logo wh0redom. Other excellent pack lines are Mountainsmith, Gregory and Osprey as well as the REI house brand packs. Best to go to a local outfitter and try packs on in person — I worked in backpacking sales for a while and don’t recommend buying either boots or packs on-line. They MUST be properly fitted and people’s bodies are all radically different in proportion.
