Pentax makes incredible lenses. The 35-100 is a good all around use lens – wide angle to portrait. Prime lenses, 50mm, 35mm, etc are a bit sharper because they don’t have moveable elements, but 99.9% of the people are never going to know. Your Ricoh camera is a good camera and there are enough lenses to satisfy your every need in the glass department. The only thing you need to really look for is in the interior of any lenses that you might buy from individuals, pawn shops, etc, and that would be mold. You can get good glass virtually every time from www.keh.com, it may be a few bucks higher, but it guaranteed quality. Vivitar is almsot always a good lens as is the Pentax, Richoh lenses and almost every other brand. For casual use, you will not notice a difference any at all. Actually, the 35-100 lens is a perfectly good walk around lens.
