If you’re referring to letting a baby cry it out to sleep, I don’t advocate that. I think it’s mean and torturous and can teach a baby that Mommy and Daddy may not always come when you need them. (I think my parents employed that method with me. Growing up, I didn’t feel comfortable with talking with them. However, there are other factors that I know about, too and this is really a different topic, and referring to family systems theory, and not about what you seem to be asking.) It might depend on the baby, and it happens in various stages. The frist two or three months of my daughter’s life she hated it when we left her alone, but I had to sometimes, like to go to the bathroom. When she was six and a half months (she’s seven months now) she started on it again. Even if my husband or me is in the room, she might start crying.
