All K-12 school in the US is eligible to host an exchange teacher, whether it is public, private, urban, suburban, or rural. Schools with existing programs are strongly encouraged to apply because, with an additional teacher on-staff, ideas and plans can be pursued to expand and solidify growing programs. Having a TCLP exchange teacher for a year can renew student interest in the subject and boost enrollment through outreach to other classes and feeder schools. Forging team-teaching connections within the foreign language classroom is also a way to reduce class size and gives currently-enrolled students increased opportunities for communicative practice. The exchange teacher can also act as a bridge through which joint classroom projects can be established.
