The New York Mets have traded catcher Ramon Castro and cash to the Chicago White Sox in exchange for right-handed pitcher Lance Broadway. The Mets announced the deal after their 2-1, 11-inning win over Florida on Friday. With Mets catcher Brian Schneider set to come off the disabled list on Saturday and fellow backstop Omir Santos already on the roster, Castro became expendable. Castro, who started the season in the minors, was called up when Schneider was originally put on the DL on April 17. Castro was batting .253 with 13 runs batted in and three home runs in 26 games with New York this season. In eight games with the White Sox this year, Broadway is 0-1 with a 5.06 ERA. Broadway will be assigned to Triple-A Buffalo and work as a starter. <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.seattlepi.com/scorecard/mlbnews.asp?articleID=259727">http://www.seattlepi.com/scorecard/mlbnews.asp?articleID=259727</a> Sources: <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.seattlepi.com/scorecard/mlbnews.asp?articleID= ...
