The Bay Area is the most liberal region in the country, so pretty much anything in or near there will be liberal except for the Central Valley. Your best bet for a liberal college town near the beach is Santa Cruz and the main university there is UC Santa Cruz. There is also Cabrillo Community College. The city is VERY VERY liberal and was one of the first cities to allow medical marijuana. It’s also on the beach and since it faces south it’s much warmer than most coastal cities in Northern CA. Davis is also a VERY liberal college town halfway between SF and Sacramento and the school there is UC Davis. But it’s not near any beaches. Santa Barbara is pretty liberal but there are a lot of rich people there so it’s that limousine liberalism and there are conservatives as well b/c of all the wealth. UC Santa Barbara is a good school but a huge party school. San Luis Obispo is fairly liberal and a college town that is only about 15 mintues to the ocean. Cal Poly SLO is the school there. San
