Who decides if a child is to receive services?
As always, the child’s school and/or IEP team make the decisions about services. School personnel make the decisions to request screening and diagnostic testing. Online Disability Services (ODS) offers guidelines and a teacher’s checklist to help facilitate this process. Following testing, ODS will offer recommendations to the school/family/IEP team. The decision to enroll a child in speech therapy is the responsibility of the IEP team. Back to question list. How will the school know the test results? Following testing ODS will provide a written report with service recommendations and teacher/classroom suggestions. Teachers are welcome to telephone conferences with ODS professionals to discuss the findings and classroom accommodations. Back to question list. Will someone from Online Disability Services be at the IEP meeting? The speech-language pathologist who tested the child can attend the meeting through distance technologies. If the meeting is held in the room with the computer and
