The Iowa Hawkeyes won 24-14 at Land Shark Stadium last night in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets were favored to win. However, Iowa managed to control the clock, outrushing Georgia Tech 172 to 143 yards. Hawkeyes’ running back Brandon Wegher managed to seal the team’s win, with his 32-yard touchdown run with just under two minutes to go. This was Iowa’s first BCS bowl win ever and the first major bowl win since 1959. According to ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg, “Iowa has gone 20-6 the last two seasons with wins in the Outback Bowl and the Orange Bowl.
