Who do you think is more responsible for the poor performance of children in schools- parents or teachers?

I definitely blame the parents. I am a teacher and parents pretty much expect me to raise their kids for them. I try to keep the parents inform about what their kids are doing (or usually not doing), but they either won’t respond or blame someone/something else (divorce, single parent home, etc. etc) for why their child isn’t doing well. I am a teacher and I bend over backwards trying to find ways to help my students succeed, yet most of them won’t even remember to bring their books to class let alone do homework, take notes, or study. I think the parents should be responsible for making sure their children are studying at home.
