Who do you think was the tragic hero in Julius Casear and why?

There were several. A “tragic hero” is one who seems to have everything going for him (or her), but is brought down by a “tragic flaw” that is integral to his/her character. Caesar is clearly the primary tragic hero, in that his belief in his own destiny and greatness blinds him to the dangers confronting him, even when he is warned. Brutus is a tragic hero as well, in that he believes he is doing the right thing, but cannot see how he is being used by Caesar’s enemies. Antony is a tragic hero later, in “Antony and Cleopatra”, in that his love for Cleopatra blinds him to political and military realities. Truly great play. Worth reading many times.
