And i wonder what happened to Cloud’s “childhood feelings” for her…but i think he only started caring for Aerith because she’s a close friend, and has an important role, and has to protect her from Sephiroth and Shinra so she can save the Planet. He also feels like he has that duty, because that’s also what Zack would’ve done, and Zack asked him to live out both of their lives.
