Who does Davis credit with the development of his golf game?
Davis credits noted instructors like Jack Lumpkin and Butch Harmon for advancing his game. He also acknowledges help from Jim Flick, Bob Toski and Peter Kostis, among others. But above all others it is Davis Love Jr., his late father, whom Davis acknowledges as his greatest instructor and role model. He was only 53 when he perished in a private plane accident in 1988. Davis Love III was only 24, and had won for the first time on the PGA Tour the season prior. But the lessons his dad taught him about golf and life have stayed with him, though he’s been gone for nearly 20 years.
