Who does the anti discrimination act 1977 apply to?
Under the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (the Act) it is generally against the law to discriminate against or harass people on the basis of their race or sex (including pregnancy and sexual harassment), disability, age, marital status, transgender status or carer’s responsibilities. This applies in the areas of employment, provision of goods and services, state education, club membership and rental accommodation (except for carer’s responsibility which only applies in the area of employment).
