British drama is more realistic,I don’t watch teen drama but I imagine British teen dramas show the warts-and-all side of bring a teenager in Britain – sex, drugs, drinking etc etc. They also portray the reality of life that not everyone is rich, beautiful and so forth. American shows are all about glamour and aspirations, they don’t like showing the reality of life, they like to idealise everything, everyone is perfect and has lovely teeth and fashionable clothes (except the sub-groups who are “losers”, “geeks”, dweebs” or whatever they call them). I find them too shallow.
