Who handles the signings at Slip n Slide?
We handle artist signings as a collective but at the end of the day Ted Lucas who is the CEO of the company has the final say since he’s the one that cut the checks. But it’s a group effort as far as input on whether or not we should sign someone all the way down to the intern. We sit down listen to the artist, go over what the general plan is as far as is if its going to be an artist that can sell 5 million ringtones and/or an artist that will have longevity and put out 5-6 albums. We take that and other aspects and come to a final decision. What is your opinion on the overall state of the music business? I would say it’s good and bad. The online downloading of music has definitely hurt the industry a lot but you also have to look at the good side as well.
