Who here can name the first Greek mythical Hero?
Chronologically within canon or who had the first writing dedicated to them? The first Greek epic poem was the Iliad, starring Achilles which makes him the first great Greek hero as far as having something written about him goes. Heracles predated Achilles within the Iliad (he gets a passing mention) and after that you open up questions about who’s the oldest at which point in Greek history. Supposedly, before the time of the Greeks came the Golden, Silver and Bronze ages, and the people of each of those eras far surpassed those of the then-current age, the Iron Age. As various Greek cultures developed, so did the mythology which means that at any given point in history the supposedly ‘oldest hero’ might be different.
