WHO invented the Christmas Office Party and WHYYYYY?

0

Going back a decade or more the party was an event that the company used to make announcements about the past years business and to layout the goals and ideas for the new year. The party allowed interaction in a non office environment for workers and management to talk in a more relaxed manner and for many to engage those that they saw at work but never bothered due to different department etc. Some used these parties to talk to management in other departments as they were looking to moving over there and to talk to people from those departments about what it was like etc. The party was sort of a reward for the years work and for giving accolades for those who stood out over the year (not all companies do this). It allowed for management to see their workers in a different environment and engage them. Some used these parties to see and talk to potential people for movement upwards in the company.
