After a few hours of sleep last night I did finally get the NIC to be recgonized at init. I compiled the driver directly into the kernel instead of as a module, and added append=”ether=10,0xde00,eth0″ to my lilo.conf. That gets it to show up in /proc/ioports and /proc/interrupts, but it still don’t work. I did find out that it is the 3c905B Cyclone 100BaseTx instead of just being the 3c905 Boomerang 100BaseTx like the book says. The date of manufacture is
