Who is Barrie?
Barrie, a successful, well-known event planner in Atlanta, coordinated simchas in our community. Her relaxed style coupled with her attention to detail made her the sought after planner for weddings, bar/bat mitzvahs, community events, and more. Barrie passed away in April 2009 after fighting metastatic melanoma. Her family and friends are determined to keep Barrie’s generous and vivacious spirit alive through Barrie’s Closet. Barrie was born on December 28, 1966 to Doris and Fred Katz. She had one sister, Michelle Penn. On February 14, 1993, she married Mark Antebi. Barrie and Mark had two wonderful children, Alec, 14 and Molly 11. Barrie graduated from Lakeside High School in Atlanta, Georgia in 1985 and Boston University in 1989, with a B.A. in Hotel Management. Barrie worked for several years as a catering sales manager at some of Atlanta’s most premier hotels, including the Westin Peachtree Plaza, the Hotel Nikko, and the W Hotel.
