Who is eligible for the five translational awards?
These awards are limited to Physicians (M.D., or equivalent degree) involved in cancer research. There must be a laboratory component to the research effort which is designed and supervised by the applicant. Clinical investigators who are only involved in directing Institutional Phase I/II contracts will not be competitive for this funding, unless there is a unique correlative science component. Those wishing consideration for one of the translational awards should check the translational box on the cover page and should justify the translational nature of the research in the application. The Board reserves the right to assign the translational awards based on its own assessment of the project described and its view of translational research.
