Who is involved in the Mediation process through the NEIGHBOR Project? How are the mediators selected?

Case Managers: The first contact that you will have will be with a case manager affiliated with the NEIGHBOR Project. The case managers are law students from Monterey College of Law, who are volunteering their time to gain experience in the field of Mediation. Two case managers are assigned to each case, one for each party. Your case manager will perform intake of your case as well as keep you informed of the status of your case once it has been approved into the program. NEIGHBOR Project Review Committee: Case Managers, under the guidance of a faculty advisor, will assess the dispute and determine the eligibility of your case into the NEIGHBOR Project. A trained mediator will then be assigned to assist the disputants. Mediators: The NEIGHBOR Project has a pool of approximately 20 professionally trained mediators who offer their services on a pro bono (free of charge) basis. They do not take sides and they know how to deal with situations that can sometimes be tense or emotional. Media
