Who is Oliver Twist?
Oliver Twist is the title character of Charles Dickens of the same name. He was orphaned, put in an orphanage and at eight or so sent to a workhouse set up for the poor in that era. There was a book around about Oliver Twist. I don’t know if there was a “real” Oliver Twist or whether the author looked more generally at the practices of the day and the many orphans and children in poor houses.
