Who is responsible for assuring that candidates have received necessary fingerprint and background clearance?
The responsibility is shared. Candidates must apply to the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to receive a clearance letter (http://www.k12.wa.us/certification/certapp/4050.pdf). Preparation programs are responsible for assuring that candidates have a clearance letter before beginning any field experience. A copy of the clearance letter will be sent to the designated official in the preparation program.
