Who is the Buddhist Chaplain at UTS?
Venerable Mahinda is a Buddhist monk who was born in Malacca Malaysia and ordained under the Theravada Buddhist Order in 1976. He is resident in Australia since 1986. He is currently Spiritual Director, Australian Buddhist Mission, President of Dhammaduta Foundation and Abbot of the Aloka Meditation Centre. He is working to support Sydney University, Macquarie University and UTS. He undertook basic Buddhist studies and training in Sri Lanka (1977 – 1982) at the Paramadhamma Buddhist Institute and practical Buddhist meditation under several well‑known masters in Sri Lanka, India, Burma and Thailand. The Australian Buddhist Mission Incorporated (ABM) was founded in 1986 under the spiritual guidance of Venerable Mahinda. Under the umbrella of ABM, Venerable Mahinda gives lectures and seminars on Buddhism, meditation and its application in daily lives at various high schools (including Sydney Boys High, Vaucluse High, Killara High, Pius X College and St Patrick College) and universities (e
