I tend to agree with Sutil. Son Goku was the man. By the Buu saga, he actually had to slow his powering up down to avoid causing damage to the Earth. His Super-Saiyan 3 transformation was strong to the point where a mortal body could only maintain that much chi for a very short amount of time. To put his power in perspective, one of his enemies, Perfect Cell, could generate enough chi to destroy the solar system. Buu saga-era Goku was stronger than him in his Super-Saiyan 2 transformation, and his Super-Saiyan 3 transformation was vastly superior to SS2. Remember that Goku defeated Buu, a monster that was specifically designed to kill Kaioshin, who is the God of Kaiosama, who is the God if Kami, who is the God of Earth. Goku is by far the strongest character ever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Son_Goku_%2… As far as Marvel goes, I would have to say the strongest is either Galactus or the Phoenix. Galact

There’s a bunch of crazy cosmic characters in Marvel. The Celestials, the In-Betweener, Eternity, Death, all of which are pretty much omnipotent. But, DC has kinda-sorta portrayed the ‘hand of god’ at the beginning of the universe. I’m saying ‘God’ wins the prize. But, I think you mean character as in somebody that has his or her own monthly title, not one of those weird dudes I was talking about. In that case, Marvel’s ‘Sentry’ (who only briefly had his own book), is definitely the most powerful in the Marvel Universe. I’m sure he’s more powerful than DC’s most well known heroes (Superman, Green Lantern, etc.) but there might be some obscure DC guy that’s more powerful. I say Sentry.

Well, if we include the Vertigo segment of the DC universe, Fate (not Dr Fate) and Death are both unbelievable powerful. Death is the only one who can kill Fate. But in doing so, she ends all things, including herself. Fate cannot otherwise be effected. As long as time moves forward, he’ll still exist. Marvel doesn’t have many abstract entities like the Endless. Of all their cosmic beings, I’d put the Watchers on top. When a Watcher chooses to interfere in the universe, that’s when things really start to go down. That’s when things turn upside-down, inside-out, the impossible becomes possible, and the unreal becomes reality. Watchers alter the course of the universe by merely making their presence known.
