Who knows what the middle upper classmen ate in Elizabethan times?
The upper classes would eat foods that was considered to be more of a luxury, like meat and sweets. Meat dishes often included dried fruit and/or nuts. Spices, sugar and salt were also very expensive. They had fish days on fridays and saturdays where they were not allowed to eat meat There is a list of common elizabethan food items here: http://elizabethan.org/compendium/47.htm… And a list of what was and was not available here: http://elizabethan.org/compendium/38.
