Widely considered as the world’s number one MMA heavyweight, Fedor Emelianenko suffered a rare defeat at the hands of Bulgaria’s Blagoi Ivanov at the weekend’s 2008 World Combat Sambo Championships. Fedor was beaten on points by the Bulgarian wrestler in the semi-finals of the over 100kg division which saw Emelianenko lose with a 8-5 deficit. Fedor, a World Combat Sambo champion the past three years, went home with the bronze medal.
