Who needs to have General Employee Radiological Training (GERT)?

0

All individuals (employees, subcontractors, and users) who enter those areas at Fermilab that are posted as Controlled Areas as part of their job but who do no work with radioactive materials, including radioactive sources, must receive this training. Those who receive Radiological Worker training (see below) do not need to also receive GERT. GERT is recommended for all workers who need no further training but will encounter radiological postings and barriers. At Fermilab, large portions of the Beams Division Footprint Areas are posted as Controlled Areas. Unfortunately, these areas provide a convenient pathway between parking lots and Wilson Hall which are used by many people. These individuals should have GERT training. This training is now being provided to all new employees and affords an opportunity to give some basic information on radiation at Fermilab. I encourage you to maintain GERT training for all of your employees. Several of you have already taken this step.
