Who or what is Allah?
Allah is the Arabic word for God. Allah is a unique name in Arabic. Muslims prefer to use Allah because it is neither masculine nor feminine and cannot be made plural. Muslims believe there is only one God and therefore believe that all people believing in God – whether Christians, Jews or those of no specific faith – believe in the same One God. Throughout time and place, there have been and are many names for the One God. In Hebrew, the word for God is Eloh. Arab Christians refer to God as Allah. God is described in the Qur’an by his qualities, or Names. Muslims believe He does not have any children, get tired or have other human-like qualities. “God!
