Who owns Timothy Geithner?
he may be a banker wannabe. If he takes a job with a big bank after his stint at Treasury he should go directly to jail. He’s worked with or under Robert Rubin, Larry Summers and Hank Paulson. Any of these guys could claim mentorship. Larry Summers is the chief economics point man for the president but he is letting Tim handle the banking disaster all on his own. The best news is that Henry Paulson is not in the room but his original idea about buying up bad assets is still on the table. I wish he would’ve taken it with him. Geithner proposes stringent regulation but none of the present CEO’s are going to want to work under such a tight system and I’m sure they are trying to fashion parachutes out of the bailout bucks. At best the big banks have been secretive, stubborn and of little help to the cause. The house won’t get cleaned until Tim has the authority to throw the bums out.
