Have you ever tried to do a legislative history on Illinois legislation? These questions and many others were discussed at the Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL) seminar “Understanding and Influencing the Illinois Legislative Process.” The seminar was hosted at the Illinois Institute of Technology’s Kent College of Law on Friday, Nov. 3. A wide spectrum of librarians was present; those who worked in law firm libraries, academic libraries, and special libraries. They heard State Senator John Cullerton, Illinois state senator from the sixth district which covers much of Chicago’s north side including the Lakeview neighborhood, and Kip Kolkmeier, who is “of counsel” at Perkins Coie and legislative consultant for the Illinois Library Association.
